Setting up the RunConcierge
widget on your Wordpress Website
Give your runners smart, searchable guidance right on your site. You’ll paste two lines of code on the page you want the widget to appear, then publish. No developer needed.
Every Wordpress site is a little different, depending on the theme the site uses or the way it is organized. Below are two approaches that work with the majority of our race partners.
What you’ll need:
Your event key (we’ll use an example below).
Admin access to your WordPress site.
If, after trying both of the approaches below, you are still unable to see and interact with the RunConcierge widget on your site, please reach out to [email protected] and we will work together to make sure the widget is implemented sucessfully.
Approach 1
In the Wordpress sidebar, locate the page where you want the widget to appear. Click the page to open it in Edit mode.
Once the page is open in edit mode, click the "+" button, then select “Custom HTML.” Place the custom HTML container where you want the widget to appear on the page.
Paste the two lines of code below into the Custom HTML block:
In the code, replace "YOUR-EVENT-KEY" with your race's unique event key (example: f36e753c-fbb7-4281-85cf-d44c5cfeba95). Your code should now look something like this:
Click Preview → if you see the widget, click Update/Publish.
We have observed that some Wordpress sites do not show the widget until the website is published. If neither this option nor Approach 2 works for your site, we recommend attempting to publish your site anyway and seeing if the widget is visible.
Repeat the instructions above on each page you would like to feature the widget if you plan to feature it on multiple pages (recommended).
Approach 2
Locate the Plugins section in the Wordpress sidebar and click "Add Plugin." Search for and install the free “WPCode – Insert Headers and Footers” plugin. Once installed, click "Activate" to activate the plugin on your site.
On the plugins page, click Code Snippets.
Under Code Snippets, select Header & Footer.
Then, paste the following code in the "Header" section:
Click save.
Then, on the page you want the widget to appear, add a Custom HTML block as explained in Approach 1 above and paste this line of code inside it:
In the code, replace "YOUR-EVENT-KEY" with your race's unique event key (example: f36e753c-fbb7-4281-85cf-d44c5cfeba95). Your code should now look something like this:
Click Preview → if you see the widget, click Update/Publish.

Repeat step 6 above on each page you would like to feature the widget if you plan to feature it on multiple pages (recommended).
